Micromode purchase award winning global franchise brand TONI&GUY, with big plans for growth in New Zealand

Micromode, the New Zealand franchise company behind Caci and Contours, is proud to add TONI&GUY, and its aligned hair care range Label M, to its portfolio of prestigious brands and franchise opportunities.

Growing from a single Clapham, London salon in the early 60’s, to more than a hundred salons in over 20 countries by the late 90‘s, TONI&GUY has long been renowned as a pioneer and innovator.

Founded by brothers Toni and Guy Mascolo in 1963, and driven by their philosophy of always delivering creativity, quality and consistency to every client, TONI&GUY changed the face of the British hairdressing industry by providing a link between fashion and hairdressing, while simultaneously pioneering the franchising boom.

At the forefront of the franchise industry in New Zealand for over 17 years, Micromode’s commitment to providing state of the art products and services for the beauty, cosmetic and anti-ageing markets makes it an obvious choice to take over the reigns of the Mascolo family legacy in New Zealand. The synergy between Micromode and TONI&GUY is multidimensional.

Label M, the brainchild of Sasha Mascolo-Tarbuck (daughter of Toni Mascolo), will slot in effortlessly beside Murad, Cellex-C and Smashbox cosmetics, brands represented by Micromode’s Cosmetics Division, managed by Neisha Henry. As official haircare sponsor to London Fashion Week, TONI&GUY create catwalk worthy hair for over 50 designer shows each year. Micromode are ready to bring a little bit of London Fashion Week to New Zealand Fashion Week with this exciting fashion-led haircare brand.

Meanwhile Micromode’s Franchise Division, which already has 29 franchises under the Caci brand and 19 franchises under Contours, welcomes the opportunity to offer talented New Zealanders the chance to be part of the biggest hairdressing success story. “It’s an exciting company that fits well within our existing stable of brands,” says franchise GM, Glenice Riley. Glenice is one of New Zealand’s leading franchise experts, joining Micromode this year to support the expansion.

Also supporting Micromode’s plans to grow the global franchise are Cameron Grimshaw and Bronwyn Illingworth, who are the New Zealand Artistic Directors of TONI&GUY.

With over 40 years combined experience working with the SuperBrand*, both award winning hairdressers started their careers in London alongside the Mascolo family, and travelled the world as TONI&GUY educators before bringing their expertise back home.

Cameron and Bronwyn’s in-depth knowledge of the TONI&GUY brand, and Micromode’s understanding of the franchise industry and proven success with Caci and Contours, is a winning combination. Plans to open new TONI&GUY salons, and work with entrepreneurial existing salon owners in becoming part of the TONI&GUY family, has everyone involved excited about the future of this iconic hairdressing company in New Zealand.

*TONI&GUY was voted as a 'SuperBrand' for a fourth time in 2011 and 'CoolBrand' twice (accolades given to the UK's strongest and coolest brands). TONI&GUY is the first ever hairdressing company to receive both nominations.
